Plan7Architect is a Windows-based application, but you can still run it on a Mac without any issues.
There are two recommended methods:
-
Parallels Desktop – the easiest, fastest, and most stable solution
-
UTM (free) – a good alternative that also works well, especially for Apple Silicon Macs
This guide will walk you through both options.
1. Installing Plan7Architect with Parallels Desktop (Recommended)
Parallels Desktop is by far the best, simplest, and most reliable way to run Windows software — including Plan7Architect — on a Mac.
The program runs smoothly and with excellent performance, even on the latest Apple Silicon chips (M1, M2, M3, M4).
We recommend Parallels for most users, especially if you want a quick, hassle-free setup.
Why Parallels is the best option
-
Very easy installation
-
Highest stability
-
Best performance
-
Windows runs like a normal Mac app
-
No complex configuration needed
Parallels License Requirements
For normal use, the basic Parallels license is completely sufficient.

-
Sometimes cheaper during promotions
-
You can also buy Parallels licenses from third-party sellers
Simply search on Google: “buy parallels license”
You’ll often find discounted prices.
How to Install Windows 11 & Plan7Architect with Parallels
After Parallels is installed:
-
Open Parallels Desktop
-
Install Windows 11 (Parallels guides you through the process automatically)
-
Once Windows is running, open the web browser
-
Log in at plan7architect.com
-
Download the software
-
Unzip the downloaded ZIP file
-
Right-click setup.exe → Run as administrator
-
Install Plan7Architect just like on a normal Windows PC
That’s it — Plan7Architect will now run inside Parallels seamlessly.
2. Installing Plan7Architect with UTM (Free Alternative)
UTM is a free virtualization tool for macOS.
We created our own video tutorial showing how to:
-
download UTM
-
install Windows inside UTM
-
install Plan7Architect inside the virtual Windows environment
UTM does not perform as fast as Parallels, but it works well and is a great option for users who prefer a free solution and don’t mind a bit more setup work.
